We welcome parents and guardians to engage with our school programs and student activities. To ensure the safety of our students and staff, all visitors must adhere to our safety procedures. As part of NYC Public Schools' Safer Access system, all visitors must adhere to the following guidelines:
Check-In Process: Upon arrival, all visitors must check in with the campus Safety Agent, present a valid government-issued photo ID, and sign in. The ID will be verified using the Safer Access system, which helps ensure the security of our school community.
Visitor Pass: After completing check-in, visitors will receive a pass authorizing them to proceed to their designated destination. This pass must be displayed at all times while on campus.
Unauthorized Access: Any unauthorized person on school grounds will be reported to the principal immediately. We appreciate your cooperation with these measures, which help us maintain a secure and welcoming learning environment for all students.
ALL VISITORS will report to the school office when entering the building, sign the visitor’s register and receive authorization (a pass) to visit elsewhere in the building.
Phones are not to be used during school. Every scholar is assigned a personal Yondr Pouch. While the Yondr Pouch is considered school property, it is each scholar’s responsibility to keep their Pouch in good working condition.
Daily Process:
As scholars Arrive to 1st Period, they will:
At the end of the day, scholars stop at an assigned base station to unlock their pouch. Once
pouch is unlocked, scholars will open their pouch, remove their phone, close their pouch and
return it to the pouch bins for their respective class.
At Vista Academy, we believe in creating a cohesive and focused learning environment. Our uniform policy is designed to ensure that all students are dressed in a manner that promotes a sense of unity and professionalism. Please review the following guidelines:
Daily Uniform
Gym
Gym Days ONLY (change in locker room)
Footwear
As a guideline, if the temperature is at or below 40 degrees, or a wind chill below -5 degrees, the children will stay inside. Determination of the outdoor activities will be decided by the building principal. Students will need appropriate winter clothing. Coats, hats, mittens, snow pants, and boots are necessary during the winter months because all students have recess outside on a daily basis.
If you are moving out of town, the school office must be notified at least a day in advance so that the proper transfer records can be prepared and the child’s supplies collected. Students will be dropped from their schedules when our Registrar has received a Request for Records from another school.
Only individuals listed in ATS or on the Blue Card will be allowed to pick up scholars. Families should make sure this information is kept up to date.
The school can assume no responsibility for personal belongings brought to school by the children. Personal electronic devices (video games, iPads, etc.) are discouraged during the school day. Please do not send toys or electronic devices with your child.
Please notify the school of any change of address or telephone number. Make sure that the school is aware, at all times, of your correct phone number plus that of a neighbor, friend or relative to contact in the event of an emergency that might occur.
